Grounding Ourselves: Get Some Earth On Your Feet

I think it’s safe to say that people's lives right now are full of challenges. No ones life is completely free of stress, and it seems lately especially we are being bombarded by more and more of it. People are often times tense, fearful, anxiety ridden and inwardly not at peace. If you are living in a city around lots of people and are subject to the media and news machine on a daily basis than you probably know and feel this intimately. Now throw into this picture the fact that we are surrounded by electromagnetic frequencies (EMF's) which throw our own electro magnetics out of balance more than ever before.


So the question becomes, how do we deal with this? How do we not let ourselves and our state of being slip into this stressful pool of negativity and chaotic energy. These outside stimuli don’t make for a very balanced human being, and the more we deal with this sort of burden the more important it becomes to do things that counter it. This is where grounding comes into the picture and becomes a vital necessity.

A long time ago in a different world than today we were connected on a daily basis to the Earth. The floors of our houses were made of earthen materials, we walked barefoot on the ground more often, and we were growing food with our hands in the soil. Now we live in a very different age. Most of us live in homes completely disconnected from the Earth. We live in tall apartment buildings and high rises in the city, we walk on carpet and plastics, we wear shoes constantly with rubber soles that prevent a connection with the Earth’s electrons. We often have no idea where our food is really grown or who grows it. It is pretty unavoidable these days to escape being around various EMF emitting appliances and technology. From cell phones, to lap tops, to TV’s, to refrigerators, they are all emitting EMFs.


Most people are actually extremely sensitive to this EMF bombardment. Have you ever felt absolutely and utterly drained, depleted, fatigued, yet somehow also anxious and disturbed? Maybe even had a headache or muscle aches to go along with it? Often times these symptoms are felt after a normal day of activity in todays modern life. Grounding helps combat this state as well as prevent it. It only makes sense that we are easily effected by energy and electro-magnetics. After all we are electrical beings with a constant flow of electrons running throughout us always. Harmful energetic waves will of course interact with our own flow of energy. This interaction can manifest is all sorts of symptoms from headaches, to lowered immunity, to muscle aches, to just plain old fatigue. An over-abundance in EMF’s and stress can worsen inflammation and disrupt are natural cellular activity leading to a state of disease.

Grounding oneself is not complicated. In fact, it is the most natural and things we could do. It can be as simple as walking barefoot as much as possible. Practicing standing yoga asanas on grass instead of on a rubber matt indoors. Meditating outdoors seated on the ground or on a natural fiber blanket is an amazing way to ground, and also helps the mind deal with anxiety, fear and restlessness. Even 5-10 minutes of this would help to ground a person. 30-60 minutes of meditation and you will feel utterly restored! One of my all time favorite ways of grounding is swimming or wading in a clean, cool river or ocean. Many times i have done this and been instantly healed of a headache or tense muscles. My body and mind relaxes and i feel calm again. The cold temperatures will invigorate the cells, wake up circulation and oxygenate, and the flow of grounding negative electrons in the water help to counter act energetic imbalances within the body.

There is no doubt that the world is struggling, and life is challenging. But there are aspects of life that are completely blissful, beautiful, and miraculous. At our essence this is the part of the world that we should resonate most with. The part where miracles take place, where the beauty and balance of nature presides. Taking a moment out to ground oneself makes it easier to realize and truly feel this.

I'm not sure about the science behind it, but have to agree that walking outside barefoot gives me a sense of well being and connection with life and with the earth in a new way. Maybe after having worked for many years in offices it is simply the chance to get back in touch with a more primal side of myself; with a side of man the way nature truly intended.

I have the barefoot products and I was reading on the net that this person is saying that if you are using the barefoot products, you should turn off the breaker from the room that you connect the barefoot connector in, or you will be getting dirty electrity circulating back to you. Is this correct. I hope I explained correctly.
