Debra Interview by Alex Malinksy
Question
#1: What are some rawfood staples in your current diet? B) Are you
100% raw? C) How did you start?
Generally I try to get 100%. Sometimes it´s
not always possible. I started when I was a baby. I was vegetarian
since birth, then became vegan in 1998 with a grade of variable
50% raw, and 2004 turned to raw food. As a vata-constitution it´s
a real challenge to find my inner point of silence.
Question #2: I heard you are writing a book about raw foods?
What is it about? When will it be published?
The book has been published last week, on the 13.1.2005, it´s
written in german language (but we are from Luxembourg) and the
title is “arguments why eating raw food” and I wrote
it with a team of very close friends of mine (Paul Kremer and Diane
Linden). We are very happy about the fact, that Shazzie wrote our
foreword. We wrote it, because so many people in Europe still don´t
even know that we can live on raw food, and that WE ARE frugivorians
! We always had to argue, which really irritated us. We describe
the main ideas about the enzymes and amino-acids, and the possibility
to heal the body by drinking chlorophyll-drinks which has been freshly
juiced. So did Ann Wigmore.
Question
#3: What are some of your favorite raw food leaders and why?
My first book, that I read, was the Viktoras Kulvinskas-book. Then
I heard from Ann Wigmore and alle the german rawfoodians, but the
problem was, that I do not completely identify with the “Natural
Hygiene” in Germany, because they say no to herbs. Through
the works of Gabriel Cousens I´m very convinced that herbs
can compensate or stabilize energetic disturbances. The point is
that Gabriel Cousens connects rawfood-diet (especially ayurveda-rawfood)
with spirituality.
Question
#4: What is your favorite recipe? Can you share it with us?
Yes, with pleasure: It´s the DIAVOLA-SOUP
One
big sweet potato (raw naturally)
four
little tomatoes
Tandori-paste
(Tandori: oil, garlic, ginger, cumin, turmeric, chilli, himalayan
salt, and a half lemon)
40°C
water (so the enzymes will stay structured)
PUT
EVERYTHING IN THE BLENDER TILL SMOOTH
It
enhances the vata-types and the kapha-types
Question
#5: What do you think is the best way to get into raw foods? Do
you think we should all be 100%?
Well, theoretically, we should be all raw, because our human physiology
is raw-vegan frugivorian! But people are not yet ready for it. Some
may have the conscience to do it, but most people do not. That´s
a fact. Especially in Europe.
To get into rawfood, 100% is very difficult from
the point of view of emotional release, because some may go on 100%
then they have a relapse and are really disappointed.
Most friends, that want to change to rawfood, do
it slowly but with a great energy and will. Detox may also be too
heavy for most people.
I saw that sauna is a good a supporting opportunity
for detox. I love it.
Question
#6: What are some of the main problems people encounter when going
raw?
As is said: Detox, and mostly: an emotional “colapse”.
Its simple to eat nothing, but it´s difficult to listen to
our physical, our mental, emotional and spiritual body as well !
There are often emotional traumata that can break
and free the person.
Question
#7: What diet advice do you have for the most common deficiency
of a vegan diet? Vitamin D, A, B-12, B complex, DHA, Iron, calcium,
zinc etc.?
We hold the view, that a real rawfood-nutrition is completely enough.
We talk about it in the book. Even the B12-problem is not a real
problem: A healthy intestines flora contains bacteria which form
this vitamin B12 !! Our researches showed that less iron is far
healthier that too much, because it is a fact, that the liver of
persons, which are told to have not enough iron (well whats the
norm ? Who fix the norm?) in the blood, is full with the iron !
It s not a lack of iron !
Rawfood is completely enough. An when you drink
fresh juices, and chlorophyll-drinks, you have no problems !
Question
#8: What is the most amazing and inspiring raw transformation story
you have heard?
Our co-author Paul Kremer did the whole transformation from a meat-eating
person to a raw-foodian in 2 (!) years ! 2002 he turned vegetarian,
then vegan and in 2004 raw! He
feels great. The whole challenge has been written down in our book.
Question
#9: The raw food movement has grown a lot in the last few years.
Where do you see it heading?
Unfortunately, Europe seems not to be that far! My opinion is: Thats
a spiritual problem. But
I see many many, people thinking about all that problems around
us, concerning toxins, and epidemics of the animals, that has been
feeded with bone-meal and so on.
They are disgusted and turn vegetarian, vegan oder
raw.
Many friends around me, seems to be inspired by
that form of natural living. Live raw, make some recipe-experiments,
laugh. I tell them my story (I had bronchial problems) and it really
got better with vegan and especially with rawfood.
Question
#10: Can you please tell us about some of your current projects
you're working on and/or developing?
At the moment, we try to promote the book. That´s a hard work
because rawfood ist new. Then I concentrate on my university-degree
in philosophy, but my next goal are: Writing a rawfood-recipe-book
and the next research-book will have the title “Ayurveda-rawfood”.
Perhaps
there will be an american publishing house that are interested in
our book and want to translate. Who knows?
Is
there anything else you'd like to add?
Alex, I m very thankful for that great possibility. Being rawfoodian
is a real liberation. I
would already be overjoyed, if people would stop to kill animals.
Thank you Alex.
