Interview with Bob McCauley
1.
What are some Raw Food Staples in your current diet?
Spirulina, Chlorella, garlic, onions, many various greens, arugula,
walnuts, hot peppers, raisins, avacado, sunflower seeds, hemp
seeds, sea vegetables, seseme seeds, flax seeds. Those are most
of the staples, but I believe in variety. I eat 200 - 250 different
foods each year. Health is about variety and making sure everhting
is raw.
Are
you 100% Raw?
I'd be lying to say 100%. 99% at this time. And it has taken a
tough 8 years to get this far. Working on the last 1%. But only
being 100% is not enough because that is not the end of health.
I drink 2 gallons of ionized water each day, 15 grams of spirulina
and 15 grams of chlorella each day, probitics with every meal,
exercise vigorously each day and always maintain a positive mental
attitude, even when things are going poorly. I think we focus
too much on being 100%. We're not saints, we're men and women
who want to be healthy and health is about all these other things
that I mention here as well.
How
did you start?
Someone introduced me to sprouting and I sort of figured it out
for myself from there. You have to be a raw foodist to understand
what it is like.
2.
What is your new book, "Achieving Great Health" about,
and how was it like talking to Peter Ragnar?
I talk about the six components of Great Health. Ionized water,
spirulina and chlorella, probiotics, raw foods, exercise and maintaining
a positive mental attitude.
I interviewed
Peter 20 times and we have a 16 CD box set together of those interviews.
Peter is a great friend and a great sage in his own way. He has
done incredible things but what I love the most is that he insists
that we can all do if we want to. Peter wrote the foreword to
my book, AGH. Gabriel Cousens, MD, wrote the introduction to my
book. He also is a great friend and mentor. I interviewed him
times. The best thing was that I had 4 private conversations with
Dr. Cousens and 20 private conversations with Peter after the
interviews. You can't imagine what it's like to talk one on one
to these guys when the microphones are off. They are incredible!
3.
What do you think are the Three Pillars of Great Health and why?
Water and nutrition, exercise and a positive mental attitude.
What else is there? The three things we need to do to be healthy
is alkalize the body, hydrate the body and detoxifiy the body.
Ionized water, spriulina, chlorella, raw foods, probiotics, exercise
and maintaining a positive mental attitude acheive these goals
for us. It is up to us to be disciplined
enough to build them into our lifestyle.
4.
How can one build muscle and gain weight eating only raw and living
foods?
There are many ways. First, Spirulina and Chlorella must be part
of it because they contain lots amino acids (protein) and nucleic
acids (RNA/DNA) that build the cells of our body. But I also recommend
other power foods that can be found on the top half of my Raw
Food Pyamid. I also use magnets when I work out and I take a tincture
each day that was designed by Peter.
5. What are some quick tips or hints for Raw newbies?
Find the raw foods that you love and begin eating them and your
body will crave raw foods more and more.
6.
Do you have any major influences?
Jesus Christ is the biggest influence in my life, although I don't
openly speak of it often. As far as health gurus it is definetly
Peter Ragnar and Dr. Cousens.
7.
What is your favorite raw food recipe?
Beside the endless salads I make myself, I love raw pizza.
8.
Do you have any dental problems on the Raw Diet?
No. Never had any. Those that do eat too much sugar like raisins
and dates, etc. Sugar is sugar and if you don't brush your teeth
well after each meal you will get cavities. The Raw Food Diet
doesn't make you bulletproof of impervous to bacteria. Also, I
always use acid ionized water to brush my teeth each day.
9.
Where do you see the Raw Food movement heading?
It is only going to grow and grow and grow from here. There's
too many people like me and many others like David Wolfe and Paul
Nison spreading the word. I really admire those guys. I've been
out on the road doing lectures and it's hard work. You need to
be dedicated.
10.
Can you please tell us about some of your current projects you're>
working on and/or developing?
I'm writing a book that is exclusively about ionized water. I
am writing another book on what my average day is like. I am working
on a video about the six components of Great Health. I plan to
make a documentary about the raw life verses the cooked life.
I am also working very hard to make Lansing, Michigan one of the
centers of Raw Life in North America. We have a large raw community
and it's growing tremendously because I am bringing people together
at our store, The Watershed Wellness Center (www.watershed.net)
I've a few other things going to, but these are the major ones.
