1. How do you start working with Olivado?
I was a long time Olive Oil Marketer, involved with such brands as Filippo Berio and Italica Olive Oils, when I was offered the opportunity to head up the USA division for Olivado. When I looked at the product line, and researched the amazing culinary and health components of avocado oil I was stunned. It seemed like this, the healthiest, most delicious and versatile edible oil, was almost unknown and not commercially available in America! I took it as my personal mission to launch this product line, and introduce it to the American Marketplace.
2. What are some of the main benefits of Olivado avocado oil?
Compared to olive oil, our extra virgin avocado oil has 4 times the beta-sitosterol, a powerful plant sterol that has been shown to protect the body against heart disease, diabetes, certain cancers, and prostate enlargement. It has twice the Lutein, which protects against macular degeneration, the leading cause of blindness in the elderly. It's loaded with the powerful anti-oxidant, vitamin E, which helps protect the body against tissue breakdown, infections and disease. It has the highest levels of heart-healthy mono-unsaturates, which lower blood cholesterol, and research shows that it actually boosts nutrient absorption from salads by up to 17 times. (Ohio University Study-October 2004) Ounce for ounce, it also has the highest levels of folate, potassium, magnesium and glutathione.
3. What is the process in making the avocado oil?
Olivado avocado oil is the natural juice from the pressed flesh of the avocado, which is one of the healthiest fruits on earth. We actually remove the skin and the stone from the avocado prior to pressing, as they contain naturally-occurring toxins that, while protecting the fruit from insects as it grows, would cause a bitterness and instability to the final product...a step that many of our competitors disregard. We then press the avocado flesh using traditional Italian olive oil presses. The product is then packaged without any oxygen entering the dark-tinted bottles, which also protects the product against oxidation and direct sunlight. These steps protect the integrity of Olivado avocado oil, and extend the shelf life well past that of other avocado oils.
4. What are your favorite raw food recipes using avocado oil?
Olivado avocado oil makes an absolutely delicious and ultra-healthy salad dressing, with just a bit of wine vinegar or lemon juice. Amazing over arugula. It's also absolutely wonderful drizzled over cut tomatoes, perhaps with some slices of mozzarella cheese and basil leaves. My favorite is to use the avocado oil as a vegetable dip, or drizzle it over raw or steamed vegetables. It's also wonderful as a bread dip (crusty Italian bread). In cooking, it has the highest smoke point of any extra virgin oil, which means that it won't break down and burn under high heat cooking. You can sauté with it, grill vegetables or use as a marinade. My all-time favorite, however, is to coat spring vegetables and cut red potatoes with it, and roast them in the oven at 400 degrees for 40 minutes. Indescribable!
5. What are the other oils you offer?
We are proudest of our Omega Plus Balanced Oil, a supper-nutritious blend of extra virgin avocado, olive and flaxseed oils, all carefully blended so that 2 teaspoons per day as a salad dressing, vegetable drizzling or in smoothies, gives you the correct daily requirements of omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids, all in the correct balance. Toss the nutritional supplements!
We also produce cold pressed macadamia oil, as well as flavor-infused avocado oils (available in Chili, Rosemary, Lemon, or Basil varieties.) Additionally, we have created Avocado Zest (a cold-pressed blending of avocado and lemons), Olive Plus (a delicious Olive Oil replacement for High Heat cooking), Avocado Oil Spray Cans (think Pam, but it's 100% extra virgin avocado oil, and 100 times healthier). We also produce The Essential Avocado Skin Repair crème, the worlds finest skin care and treatment product.
6. What are some future plans for the Olivado Company?
We have recently opened our newest production facility in Kenya, where we are producing Organic and Fair Trade avocado oils. In line with our company mission statement, which is best illustrated by our company name, Olivado Natural Nutrition, we expect to be researching and launching a series of healthful, natural products with applications to improve people's health and nutrition world-wide.

Yes. We are a small, privately owned company, whose products have proved so healthy and unique that we are able to compete against multi-national food companies, with resources and advertizing budgets that dwarf our own.
