100% Pure, Certified Organic Dark Agave Nectar from mature plants in a 16 oz bottle. This raw agave goes best in cacao recipes and can be used to create chocolate cake or chocolate chip cookie tastes in raw dessert treats and smoothies.

The agave (uh-gah-vay) plant has been long been cultivated in hilly, semi-arid soils of Mexico. Its fleshy leaves cover the pineapple-shaped heart of the plant. This is where the sweet sticky juice is contained. It is best known for its use in making tequila.

This Raw, certified organic, unfiltered Dark Agave Nectar is also called Dark Agave Syrup. It is a mineral rich, dark syrup with a vanilla-like aroma. Really one of a kind! It is made from the world-reknowned Blue Agave plant with 85% fructose!

Blue Agave is considered to be higher in fructose-producing carbohydrates than many other types of agave and it is considered to be the most desired agave in the world.

In recipes use about 25% less of this agave nectar than you would other sweeteners also reduce the liquid in the recipe by as much as 1/3. The glycemic index of agave nectar is low. As a food exchange, a 1 teaspoon serving of raw organic agave nectar equals a free food. 2 servings or 2 teaspoons equals 1/2 carbohydrate exchange. Agave's glycemic index of 11. It would be suitable for diabetics as long as they monitor their carbohydrate intake.

Not a truly raw product but suitable for raw food vegans.
