Why do i love Greener Grasses so much? Well first off when i open the jar and take a sniff my whole body just screams YES at me! It is such a healthy, sweet smell, it makes me understand why horses love to munch on sweet, juicy nutrient rich grass all day. Grass isn’t just for the horses and cows in the pastures, it is also an amazing food for humans, used as both a nutrient booster (a non synthetic multi-vitamin/mineral) and also a medicine to aid in detoxification.

Greener Grasses combines whole leaf cereal grasses (barley and wheat) with a 33:1 ratio powder extract made from the juice of alfalfa, dandelion, barley and oat. The powder is made from grasses that grow over 2 feet in height, and are harvested at their nutritional peak. The grass grows in organic soil only, and is left to fully mature before harvesting. This enables the grasses to have a high life force and be very rich in minerals. Barley grass on it’s own is an exceptional source of Calcium, with eleven times more than cow’s milk. It is also known to have five times the amount of iron as spinach, and close to seven times the amount of vitamin c as oranges. The grasses contained in this powder are also very high in b-vitamins, vitamins K, silica, magnesium, potassium, folic acid and a host of other trace elements.

You wouldn’t look at humble grass and automatically know what a nutritional powerhouses it is! In fact grass has the ability to take up every trace mineral present in the medium which it grows. Many other plants are selective about which nutrients they absorb. It is also an incredibly rich source of amino acids. Grass is also very alkalinizing, helping to keep our blood pH levels at optimal levels in an acidic world.  The high levels of chlorophyll in Greener Grasses make it very supportive to our detoxification processes and help keep the body from falling into states of disease.

Think about all of the beautiful, strong, and muscular animals that eat grass as their main sustenance. They are getting highly absorbable protein from grass. Also something to note for any breast feeding women out there; cows, sheep, goats, etc. that eat a diet high in grass have sweeter tasting, more mineralized, and higher levels of omega 3 fatty acids in their milk, which benefits both their own health and the health of their baby.

The flavor of Greener Grasses is definitely malty, it smells very much like alfalfa grass to me. The smell is a bit sweet. The taste has a very, very mild salty and bitter quality. My favorite way to use it is in my yerba mate/herbal tea based elixirs in the morning along with maca, a pinch of tulsi powder, raw organic Cashews or whole Coconut Butter to cream it up, cinnamon, a little bit of Spirulina Manna, a pinch of salt, and honey or a touch of stevia. Greener Grasses combines especially well with cacao, so sometimes i’ll add a spoonful of raw organic Bali Cocoa Powder to the mix. This would also be amazing with lucuma powder which has a caramel-like flavor. I also find that Greener Grasses combines really well with berries, so it is awesome either in or sprinkled on top of a berry/coconut smoothie.

I will admit, many of the green powders out there just aren’t tasty, and if they do taste decent it may be because they have flavoring and sweetener added. Greener Grasses doesn’t need anything to make it palatable, it is naturally so tasty and really quite mild to the palate. The consistency of the powder is also very nice. I like the fact that Health Force combines both whole leaf powders with juice extract powders, because this allows the powder to dissolve and digest so easily. It is not chalky or fibrous like you might imagine. The grass is definitely greener with Health Force Nutritionals Greener Grasses.
