If you're like me you've had the experience of buying a jar of raw nut butter with high hopes and been disappointed. Upon opening it you may have found something resembling a hardened mass of masticated nuts. This is never a fun experience, nut just because it's hard to spread this particular texture of butter, but also because raw organic nut butters are often an investment and you naturally expect more from a product you're paying more for. Well, your search for high quality, consistently amazing, perfectly creamy, fresh tasting, truly RAW nut butters should end today with the introduction of Dastony Stone Ground Nut Butters!
The reasons why Dastony exceeds expectations are numerous. I'll start with the initial impression of these products even before knowing anything about the processing and amazing company behind them. When you first open a jar of Dastony nut butter you may be surprised by the consistency which is much more "liquidy" and broken down than other nut butter. This is do to the stone grinding process by which they are made. Stone grinding nuts and seeds into butter is nothing new, in fact it's rather "cave man" when you think about. However, the process has come a long way since the stone age! Dastony uses a combination of ancient technique and new technology (stone grinding machines which keep the butters under 118F for the entire process). The result is like a combination of nut butter and pure smooth silky goodness. And since non of the naturally occurring oils have been subjected to high temperatures these butters taste beyond fresh. You are getting pure efa's which will nourish your hair and skin, lubricate your joints, protect your heart, aid in healthy digestion, and calm inflammation. Since no emulsifying ingredients have been added to these butters a bit of natural oil separation may occur, just gently stir before use. You will also notice that the low temperature grinding process helps the butters retain a very unique sweetness. I liken it to the difference between a store bought cucumber and one picked fresh directly from your garden. Fresh food just tastes so much better and everyone knows it!
Coconut Butter:
The only butter in the line which is solid at room temperature is the coconut butter. This is due to the fact that the natural fats found in coconut are mostly medium chain saturated fatty acids, which will remain pretty solid unless it's very warm out. Medium chain fatty acids are much easier for our bodies to utilize because they don't require the body to process with bile, they can be absorbed directly and utilized rapidly for energy and nourishment. Also it should be noted that coconut fat is nearly 57% lauric and caprice acids which are so useful in treating fungal, yeast, and bacteria infections within the body. Dastony's coconut butter is not just isolate coconut oil, it is stone ground using the entire coconut making it especially high in fiber and other nutrients as well. It is truly a whole food! The first bite will transport you to somewhere sunny and tropical as the coconut flavor is so fresh and sweet!
Cashew Butter:
The cashews used for this butter are truly raw hand shelled cashews from Vietnam. They start out fresh, white, plump and creamy before even heading to the grinders. This is something very rare as most cashews have been heat treated before even getting made into butter and their oils are already more than likely rancid. The result is a cashew butter unparalleled by others and sets a high standard in the raw food marketplace. Cashews are so versatile because their flavor works very well with both sweet and savory. The butter is naturally a bit sweet but can be used in savory sauces or soups helping to round out and balance the flavor. It can also be used in dessert recipes as a base for chocolate sauce or a glaze for pies and cakes. Well, the possibilities are endless really! Cashews are rich in oleic acid which is a fatty acid that helps support our cardiovascular system.
Sesame Seed Butter:
If you're already a raw food enthusiast you've more than likely experienced your share of bitter or gritty raw sesame tahini. This tahini is so easy to use on it's own or incorporated into recipes such as hummus or salad dressing. You can quite easily make sauces or dressings with it even without a blender because it is just that smooth! Sesame is so high in naturally occurring minerals such as calcium, magnesium, manganese, iron, and zinc. It is a great food for building healthy bones and teeth.
Almond Butter:
One of my favorite things to do with this almond butter is make instant nut milk. No messy straining process needed. The flavor is so potent, rich, and sweet that you can really make a great batch of nut milk in mere seconds by combining a few tbs with pure water or coconut water in your blender. The almonds used in this butter are infact truly raw nuts which have not been steam pasteurized. They will sprout! (your nut butter however will not!) = ) Almonds are high in protein, trace minerals like copper, selenium, and zinc as well as fat soluble vitamin E.
To top it off Dastony is a family owned operation right here in the USA near the windy city of Chicago, IL! They are fully invested in making sure their company and products maintain extremely high standards, standards that their customer base can trust. Dastony was created and developed by Alex Malinsky raw food expert, chef, and owner of RawGuru. He has been a raw food enthusiast since his early teens and has worked tirelessly to bring humanity the highest quality products. The development and production of this line of nut butters is truly a labour of love and the proof is in every ounce of these delicious nut butters!
